Process

First Presbyterian Nursery SchoolFPNS is licensed by the State of Connecticut.

Admission Process and Time Frame

1. Admission open houses are held each winter and are open to interested parents. The schedule is available from the Director of FPNS. 2. Applications must be received by January 10th of the year your child will turn three. A non-refundable application fee of $25.00 must accompany each application. 3. All applicants (except those of siblings and alumni) are asked to join the Admissions Committee for an informal meeting/interview. Ten to twelve parents and children at one time will meet with the Admissions committee for forty minutes. Meetings are held during January, typically in the afternoon. 4. A decision from the Admissions Committee will be mailed by February 4th. 5. Signed and completed contracts and a non-refundable deposit of $250.00 must be received by the due date on the contract to reserve a space. This fee is non-refundable, but will be credited toward the year's tuition. Tuition bills are mailed out twice a year, in August and January.

Decision Criteria for Admissions

The Admissions Committee will decide the make-up of each class based on: 1. An equal gender ratio 2. How we perceive parents will work with us for the benefit of their child. 3. A diversity of personality types and learning styles. 4. Children that the Committee feels can benefit most from our program. This includes perceived readiness to appreciate and participate in our program. 5. Parents who will take an active role in school life and are comfortable with the staff. 6. All sibling and alumni applications received on time are accepted and the children are assigned to the appropriate class.

Financial Aid

FPNS has a well-funded endowment fund that supports our financial aid scholarships and helps supply the school in with ongoing needs. The materials and equipment we use are updated regularly.

A number of scholarships are available, and are granted based on financial need. Please speak to the Director if you have questions regarding financial aid. All matters are held in confidence.

Withdrawal

Enrollment is for the entire school year. Fees will not be prorated for absences or days lost due to inclement weather.

Should it become necessary to withdraw your child for any reason, written notification must be sent to the FPNS Director as soon as possible. If you child is withdrawn for any reason, no refund in fees will be paid, or waiver of fees owed will be made unless FPNS is able to fill the opening with another child.
